“Leaders”: What comes into your head when you hear this word? Do you envision the leaders of the past or of the present? Or do you think about the traits that a leader should have? There are leaders in this world who give out a positive effect while there are those who give out a negative effect. Do you think we need a leader? Well I honestly think that we do need leaders especially because of our society nowadays.

I highly regard her with such a high esteem as a remarkable person for her firmness and nobility in her work.

Example a leader from today could be Mrs. Linda Gibbons. Mrs. Gibbons lived right here in Toronto! She’s currently in her sixties and is still tremendously firm in her protest. Mrs. Gibbons got arrested several times already for protesting against abortion. Not many people think about what abortion is really about, either because they are scared or they simply just don’t care. But, Mrs. Gibbons did care very much that before her latest arrest she held up a sign standing a certain distance away from the hospital knowing then that she would get arrested. She asked a question that those who have authority over laws should take into consideration which is: why would you arrest me when the doctors are the ones who have blood on their hands? This quote is true because there are babies all around the world that die every single day when they deserve a chance to live just like we do! So, for those who do abortion due to whatever kinds of situations they are in should think about the following question; what if my mom had killed me back then? Therefore I highly regard her with such a high esteem as a remarkable person for her firmness and nobility in her work. I support Mrs. Gibbons in her leadership and find her to be a true trailblazer!

Do you think that the world would be so much better off with no one to tell us what is right or wrong? Well I think not! Why? Well, first try to picture the following. Picture a world where there were no leaders. Everyone in this world just did what they wanted to do, following their own rules. Well if you pictured the following then do you see how uncivilized our world could be?! It would be as if we were something like a barbarian. The world would be in so much chaos right now that though we are sitting in crumbles right now our world would become so much more destructible. This is why we need leaders. For example there are laws. People who made the laws are leaders. So, let’s say there were no leaders can you imagine all of the people doing what they wanted to do following their own intentions? Well I can and I see violence striking out more often than it does now and though we already had two World Wars in the past, I bet you that we would still have a war happening right now! But since leaders are here and we do have laws our world in under control in more ways than one. Sure, there were leaders in the past and in this generation, with bad intentions such as Hitler but we need leaders to keep our world in stable and in line. Hitler was a man who started World War two and led the Nazis. He believed that he had to protect Germany but he had wrong reasons and so led World War two involving many persecutions of Jews. World War two killed many and so this is why I would say Hitler was a bad leader.

A leader we need today should be understanding of the situation, firm so that they may stick with their leadership, decisive to make good decisions, selfless to think of others more than themselves and persuasive so that they may bring change into effect. We need some leader with traits such as this because as this generation is being taken up by the technological revolution, in some ways the world is becoming more dangerous and in other ways improving. The world has become more dangerous through technological revolution is in the past there were no guns, bombs, or vehicles (causing pollution). But now there are and so we have hundred that die from gun shootings, thousands that die from bombs (usually in wars) and vehicles that move on gas bringing the oxygen level down to dirty. The world is also improving now through technological revolution because now we have different technology to help in the medical area, lifestyle area (such as air conditioner), and just simple stuff such as jobs. So we need someone with an educated mind to lead the people efficiently.

In the Merriam Webster dictionary the word ‘lead’ means to guide on the way and tend to a definite result. The Holy Spirit is a directly good example of this definition because the Holy Spirit guides the Church to a definite result which is heaven. The Holy Spirit gives the Church two special gifts that no one else can acclaim truly. These two gifts are infallibility and indefectibility. Adding to these two gifts the Holy Spirit gives the people of God (the members of the Church) the seven gifts of the Holy Spirit. These seven gifts of the Holy Spirit given to us are wisdom, understanding, knowledge, counsel, fortitude, piety and fear of the Lord. These seven gifts are received at Baptism and strengthened during Confirmation. Since the Church is led and guided by the Holy Spirit, the third person in the Holy Trinity, we are free from any error and any false teachings.

Before the Church was even established though, Jesus came down from heaven and founded the Church. During his public ministry here on earth there were twelve whom grew in friendship with Him. These twelve are known are the twelve apostles and later became the bishop of different areas. These twelve came to lead the different areas of the world to the Kingdom of God. Jesus taught these twelve much during the three years of his public ministry and made Simon, Peter to lead them all. Jesus gave a new name to Peter to show his new mission as leader of the Church. Peter was to be the head, the Pope of the Church. Peter’s new name given to him was rock which meant that Peter was the foundation on whom Jesus would build the Church on. As Peter being the leader of all the Church all Christians are obliged to obey and respect him (as we now do with our Pope, Pope Benedict the sixteenth). As Jesus being the true founder of the Church led by St. Peter Jesus gave us the seven sacraments, grace and the four marks of the Church which we can only acclaim truly. Adding to that, even while Jesus was getting crucified on the cross Jesus gave his mother, Mary to the world. Since Jesus won eternal glory for all of mankind everyone must bend at Jesus’ name. You may this that the bishops, the pope and Jesus has nothing at all to do with leadership but trust me the truth is they do. They are the ones who can safeguard us, the church from others who would lead the members astray leading us on the way to heaven.
